The Ventura Zoo Trip

umatran-tiger.jpgIt was a very sunny Saturday, so Mack and his parents thought it was a good day to go to Ventura Zoo. Another reason to go there was because the zoo had just got a new stripey Sumatran tiger. Mack asked his parents if he could see it and they said yes.
He went off to try to find the tiger, and, when he did, he tried to feed it some meat that he had been saving, because it looked hungry. The tiger snapped up the meat and brought Mack down with him, then the tiger started circling around him, looking angry.
Mack screamed and tried to get away, but the tiger was too quick for him and  blocked his path.
Luckily, the zoo keeper got a cage and put an enormous steak in it. The tiger saw it and came bounding towards it. The zoo keeper quickly closed the door on the cage and he threw Mack a rope for him to climb up. The tiger was happy then because he had a nice, yummy piece of meat.

The Hamilton Zoo Trip

It was a cloudy Wednesday morning and my group and I had just got to the Hamilton Zoo.
First, we went to see the bird enclosure and, in it, there were some orange-crested cockatoos and multi-coloured rainbow birds. I took a photo of them and we moved on to the monkey enclosures.
First, we saw the fuzzy, brown Capuchin monkeys, swinging around like crazy on the thick, black, hairy ropes. Next, we saw the cotton top Tamarins. They looked cute and furry. Then there were the spider monkeys. Two of them were playing a game of tag on the thick, grey, metal mesh.
tuatara.jpgNext, we all went over to the glass Tuatara cage but he wasn't in there. There were  some small bushes at the back of the cage so we all figured out that he must have been dozing around back.

Next up were the dirty, smelly, greyish-brown rhinos in their desert-like plains. I took a photo of the one sleeping peacefully on the sand. Two were having a fight over who was the strongest rhino.
Next, we all stopped at the slimy green duck pond to have lunch. We saw some swans and I spotted a camouflaged turtle on the far side of the pond. As he stood as still as a stone on a sunny, warm rock, I took a photo of him, as well.
Finally, we went all the way back to the entrance again, and a zookeeper welcomed us all into the Education classroom. We all had to watch some slides on a whiteboard, then, when it had finished, we got a look around the room.
Afterwards, my group and I got ice cream blocks and we went back to school. I  had a really fun and awesome time there and I really want to go back.

Devyn's version of the production

"Have u heard about the wonderful production called go Noah? six weeks ago we did our awesome songs and I am very good at singing them. Last night I did the ha ha conga and my parents thought I was really good at it. My part in it was a neighbour and I'm supposed to poke fun at the Noah family. I really like my part because I'm only on stage 4 a little while. after the chorus of the ha ha conga we form a conga line and we all put our hands on each others shoulders, dancing around on the stage. I thought I did really well and I an very proud of myself.

The Pauanui Wedding

It was really hot in the four wheel drive and we had been driving for two hours Mum said we were going to stay in a batch right next to the glistening sparkling ocean.

Saturday was the Wedding and everyone said what I was wearing looked cool or swazz. the Wedding was going to be on the beach but the weather was drizzly and very windy Some people were handing out ice creams and my sisters tricked the ice cream people into thinking that they hadn't had one yet and they did it twice and it was really funny.

In the evening we stayed at my Nana's old batch (because kids weren't aloud at the dinner party)  that is in the middle of the leafy green bush. My dad was baby-sitting us and Braxton was there too. The six of us watched movies until 11:30.
When we were going back home on Sunday I got one last look at the sandy glittery beach before we drove away. I felt sad that we were leaving because I had a really great time there.

The Tauranga R.S.A.

lt was so hot and stuffy in our dirty white tinted van. I just wished I could jump into our freezing cold shimmering pool at our house. We were all getting on each others nerves. l kept on asking mum. “Are we there yet?Are we there yet?” over and over again. Every time I asked her the answer was no no and still no.

Finally mum said that we were here. She said it in a tired and kinda cross voice.

As we walked in I felt a bit nervous. I had my lunch. I got chicken wings, marinara with shrimp, mussel, squid, fish, surimi (crab meat) and other seafoods. My pudding was pavlova, ice cream and wobbly jelly.

Anti-Bullying Poem

Don`t be a bully.
It`s mean and cruel.
No one thinks you're funny.
No one thinks you`re cool.
People run scared from you.
Kids say, "You`re the worst!"
So don`t be a bully.
Because you will get bullied some time too.

Easter

In the holidays, it was Easter.
My sister, Jazlyn, was having a sleepover. We woke up and I looked under my cozy bed and saw a massive pile of rainbow chocolate Easter Eggs. I got it all out from under my bed and ate half of it. My sisters and brother ate the other half.
We went outside and found a pile of wonderful  rainbow chocolate Easter Eggs. I gave them to my mum  and dad.
We had breakfast and we opened up our Easter presents. I got a squirmy wormy and Easter Eggs.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day. We live a Live Simply Day so that we can stand in solidarity with the poor people in our world. To live simply means to go without the things we use in life that we don't need.

Hot Air Balloon

This morning, when I came to school, Konnah, Jayden and Theo were already there. I saw a giant fire-coloured balloon. I heard a jet of flames coming out of a little steel box and people talking.
There was an enormously long line and it took a long time but then it was finally my turn and my Dad kept taking photos of me.
I felt scared but, when I hopped into the balloon, I felt safe. When I jumped into the big cane basket, a man pulled a lever and a jet of flame shot into the balloon called Wildfire. In a second, I was hovering up in the sky. I floated.

When I came back down, I sort of fell out of the basket because the balloon fell to the ground with a big thud.

Symbols of the Holy Spirit

Other symbols of the Holy Spirit are water, the dove and oil. You can see some of the symbols that our class drew on our class blog at stproom4.blogspot.co.nz

Swimming Sports

Yesterday, our school had our swimming sports at the Ngaruawahia town pools.
It was time for the backstroke race. All the other 8 year boys dived in with me. Mr K blew his loud whistle and we were off! I shot through the sparkling water like a bullet. All of us were kicking as fast as we could. I tried my best but I still came last. I bet next time that I will be a lot faster.
